What we store, and what we don't.

Installing an extension that reads your projects is a big ask. Here's exactly how we treat it.

Your work stays in Basecamp

Messages, to-dos and files are read live from Basecamp in your browser. We don't copy them into our database.

We keep what you add

Tags, statuses, field values, saved views, WIP limits, rules, and the transcripts you ask for. Voice note audio is never stored.

Basecamp's own sign-in

You connect through Basecamp's official OAuth, and you can revoke access from Basecamp whenever you want.

Common questions.

Does this replace Basecamp?

No. Assistant runs inside Basecamp and adds a layer of tags, statuses, fields, and views on top. Your projects, to-dos, and messages stay exactly where they are.

Does everyone on my team need to pay?

No. Anyone can connect the account, and one Basecamp admin pays. Everyone else in that Basecamp account gets access automatically. They only need to install the extension in their own browser.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. 7 days, no card, full access for your whole team. After the trial, the 7 everyday fixes stay free for everyone in your account. One admin subscribes for $29/month (or $290/year) to keep the board, fields, automations and transcripts.

What data do you store?

What Assistant adds: tags, statuses, custom field definitions and their values, saved views, WIP limits, and automation rules, keyed to the Basecamp items they belong to. Also the OAuth tokens needed to reach Basecamp's API, and the transcript, summary, and action items for voice notes someone chooses to transcribe. Your messages, to-dos, and files are read live from Basecamp in your browser, not copied into our database. Voice note audio is never stored.

Do teammates who don't install it see anything different?

No. The extension adds its UI to Basecamp pages in your own browser. Anyone without it sees Basecamp exactly as before.

Can I revoke access?

Any time, in one click, from Basecamp's own account settings. You connect through Basecamp's official OAuth, so you stay in control of the connection.
