Terms of Service
The rules for using Assistant for Basecamp.
Last updated: April 20, 2026
1. The service
Assistant for Basecamp ("Assistant", "we", "us") is a Chrome extension and web application that adds features to Basecamp accounts via Basecamp's public API. By installing the extension, creating an account, or connecting a Basecamp account, you agree to these Terms.
2. Accounts and access
- You must have a valid Basecamp account to use Assistant.
- Any member of a Basecamp account may connect Assistant to it. The Basecamp admin who subscribes is responsible for billing.
- One admin pays the subscription; every member of that Basecamp account then gets access automatically. There are no per-user seats or access requests.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials and OAuth access tokens secure.
3. Billing and trial
- New accounts get a 7-day free trial of all paid features. No credit card required to start.
- After the trial, access to paid features requires an active subscription or a lifetime purchase, paid via Stripe.
- Pricing is a flat rate per Basecamp account for unlimited members, as published on our pricing page ($29/month or $290/year). Prices may change with 30 days' notice to active admins.
- Charges are monthly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime payment, based on your selection. Yearly is billed upfront.
- Lifetime plan: a one-time charge of $999 gives the Basecamp account unlimited seats and every feature for as long as Assistant for Basecamp is offered. It never renews. Buying it cancels any monthly or yearly subscription on the account immediately; the unused part of that period is credited against the lifetime price at checkout, and a lifetime refund returns that credit too.
- Lifetime refunds: request a full refund within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked, from your billing page. A refund ends the lifetime plan and the account returns to the free tier.
- You can cancel at any time from your billing dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds for partial periods.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, resell, or sublicense Assistant.
- Use Assistant to violate Basecamp's Terms of Service or any law.
- Attempt to access other customers' data or systems.
- Send spam, malware, or abusive content via Assistant features.
- Exceed reasonable API rate limits or intentionally degrade the service for other users.
5. Your data
You own the data you create inside Assistant (tags, statuses, custom fields, automations). You grant us a limited license to store and process that data solely to operate the service. See our Privacy Policy for details.
6. Third parties
Assistant depends on Basecamp's API. We are not affiliated with 37signals or Basecamp. If Basecamp changes or removes API functionality, features of Assistant may change or become unavailable. Billing is processed by Stripe under their own terms.
7. Availability and support
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance, Basecamp outages, or Cloudflare incidents may cause downtime. Email support is included on all paid plans.
8. Termination
You may stop using Assistant at any time by disconnecting your Basecamp account or cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. On termination, your data is purged within 30 days per our Privacy Policy.
9. Warranty and liability
Assistant is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of Assistant is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.
10. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will email active admins and post the updated version on this page. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
