Basecamp keeps its core deliberately small, so integrations carry the rest: invoicing and budgets on top of tracked hours, automation bridges, and tools that add features inside Basecamp itself. Here's the honest map, including where Assistant fits.

The official directory
Basecamp maintains a directory of tools that work with it, from time trackers to reporting apps. Assistant is listed there. It's the first place to check whether a tool you already use has a Basecamp story.
Bridges: Zapier and Make

The API and webhooks

Time tracking
Basecamp ships its own Timesheet: a timer on to-dos and cards, hours logged with notes, and a report you can filter and export. It comes with the Pro and Unlimited plans. Cross-app automation
Zapier or Make, when the other end of the workflow lives outside Basecamp: forms, CRMs, spreadsheets, email. If the whole workflow stays inside Basecamp, you likely don't need them at all.

Looking for a Basecamp and Trello integration?
There's no native sync between the two, and running both means updating both. You have three honest options.
Bridge them
Zapier and Make both speak Trello and Basecamp: new cards become to-dos, or the other way around. Works, but every rule you add is one more thing to maintain, and the two tools still disagree about what "done" looks like.
Move once
Do a one-time import of the cards that still matter and archive the Trello board. Most boards carry fewer live cards than it feels like, and Basecamp's own Card Tables cover the columns-and-cards workflow.
Skip Trello entirely
If Trello only exists because Basecamp had no board over to-dos, Assistant removes the reason: every to-do list becomes a column, on one list, a project, or your whole account. One tool fewer to keep in sync.

Automation rules react to what happens in Basecamp. Integrations make sure people hear about it. A field flips, a rule fires, the Campfire chat knows. That loop runs without anyone writing a status update.
Basecamp integration questions, answered.
What is a Basecamp connector? +
Usually one of three things: an entry in Basecamp's own integrations directory, a bridge app like Zapier or Make that moves data between Basecamp and other tools, or a tool built on Basecamp's API and webhooks. There is no single official 'Basecamp connector' product.
Does Basecamp integrate with Trello? +
Not natively. There is no built-in two-way sync between Basecamp and Trello. Teams either bridge the two with Zapier or Make, do a one-time move of cards into Basecamp, or skip Trello entirely by running a board view inside Basecamp.
Does Basecamp have webhooks? +
Yes. Basecamp can send an HTTP callback when things change in a project: to-dos created or completed, messages posted, comments added, and more. They power most serious integrations. We wrote a plain-English guide: see the Basecamp webhooks post linked above.
What are Campfire notifications? +
You link a Campfire chat to Assistant, and updates get posted there. Changes stop hiding in items nobody had open and surface in the room where your team already talks.
What does Assistant's webhook manager do? +
It's a per-project toggle for to-do completion sync. Turn it on for the projects where completions should flow, leave it off where they shouldn't. No config files, no endpoints to paste.
Does Assistant work with Zapier or Make? +
Not directly. There's no inbound webhook external tools can call. If a tool writes to Basecamp itself, Assistant reacts to that Basecamp event, and your automation rules can take it from there. We'd rather be straight about this than let you plan around a connector that isn't there.
Do these integrations work with Basecamp 2 or 3? +
Everything here is about Basecamp 5, which is what every account runs today (it answers at both app.basecamp.com and the older 3.basecamp.com address). If you're searching for a Basecamp 3 integration, you're looking for a Basecamp 5 one now.
